Road Corridor Environmental Assessments

Boobook has undertaken ecological assessments along every main road in southwest Queensland. We have collected detailed information concerning vegetation types, rare flora populations, threatened fauna habitats and weed infestations.

Our surveys include the following roads:

  • Leichhardt Highway (Miles - Taroom)
  • Warrego Highway (Charleville - Miles via Roma & Mitchell)
  • Landsborough Highway (Morven - Augathella)
  • Mitchell Highway (Barringun - Augathella via Cunnamulla, Wyandra & Charleville)
  • Carnarvon Development Road & Carnarvon Highway (St George - Carnarvon Range via Surat, Roma & Injune)

Boobook has continued to document the flora and fauna values of the vegetation remnants found within these road reserves and many other shire roads in southwest Queensland. Key discoveries include previously undocumented populations of plants of conservation significance including Sturt's desert rose Gossypium sturtianum, Blake's spike-rush Eleocharis blakeana, the daisy Rutidosis lanata, scrub wattle Acacia tenuinervis, mulga heath-myrtle Thryptomene hexandra and the heath-myrtle Micromyrtus rotundifolia.
